CHETAN KHADKA

Usually, in school or college premises, students from multicultural background come together. They might wear same uniform or follow same kind of rules and regulations, they still differ from each other. A teacher can easily solve the problem related to his subject if student has any confusion, but what he is going through psychological problem, very less people can assume the solution of the problem. If student has good mental health, he or she can carry out other function in excellent way. And to help that student psychologically, counselor is not just essential, it is must.

Counseling

According to Merriam-Webster, Counseling is the professional guidance of the individual by utilizing psychological methods especially in collecting case history data, using various techniques of the personal interview, and testing interests and aptitudes.

Myths of counseling

  • Giving advice,
  • Being judgmental,
  • Sorting out the problems of the clients,
  • Assuming clients problems,
  • Being emotional and very sensitive,
Likewise, from the above perspectives and fundamental information about counseling, it helps us to think about what is the need of counseling in our every day life.

Students need support in a different levels of their development stage and to help them their is a key role of professional counselor. Professional counselor is the one who is satisfied in the field of counseling psychology where they know the way of growth in a child.

Like biological growth, sociological growth, physiological growth is the key factors of child development. Counselors are taught early on to get assistance from a supervisor or experienced mental health professional when they are dealing with a tricky situation.

Nobody is 100% all the time. Counselors have good days and bad days just like everyone else. The difference is our training. Our training prepares us to handle a variety of issues, including when we are in over our heads. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of professionalism.

After all, if we can trust in the help of others how can we expect other people to trust us? In reality, counselors are human beings and we’re not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

It is also concerned with observable Stimulus-Response behaviors. This approach also focuses on learning's role in developing both normal and abnormal behavior. Early theorist Ivan Pavlov discovered classical conditioning (associative learning). He conducted a famous study using dogs. It focused on the effects of a learned response to a stimulus. For example, a dog started salivating when it heard the bell. Here, the sound of the bell would symbolize the message of getting food. Another behaviorist, Edwar L. Thorndike discovered Operant Conditioning and later B.F. Skinner analyzed operant conditioning. It is based on rewards and punishment to shape people's behavior. Edward L.
