Psycho-social Meaning

According to Merriam-webster.com, Psycho-social means involving both psychological and social aspects. It is also related to social conditions to mental health.

Psycho-social Problems
Psycho-social Problems deal with the problems related to the combination of psychological and social behaviors.

Key points

• Erik Erickson used psycho-social word for the first time in his description of the stages of psycho-social development.

• Mary Richmond (pioneer of American Social Work) suggested there can be a linear relationship between cause and effect in the diagnostic process. 

• In 1941, Gordon Hamilton renamed "Social diagnosis" as "Psychosocial study". Social diagnosis was popular concept in 1917.

Behavioral Symptoms

• Creating Conflicts,
• Staying alone,
• Talkative or speechless,
• Substance use,
• Suicidal acts, etc

Social Symptoms

• Being alone,
• Withdrawal from society, etc

Psycho-social problems can occur in any stages of life. But it doesn't mean it doesn't have a solution. Taking the right help from psycho-social counselors and medical examinations from medical personnel can bring positive perspectives regarding psycho-social issues.
