Sidewalk Talk in Nepal
Sidewalk Talk
Sidewalk Talk is all about community listening project. Sidewalk talk is conducted to connect humans focusing on heart-centered listening in public spaces and welcomed all the emotions to be heard. Anyone who passes by the sidewalk talk can interact and keep their feelings to the listeners.
During 2014, two therapists from San Francisco shared this vision. This vision mainly focuses on the art of skilled listening. Traci Ruble is the director of the Sidewalk talk. It was initiated from 26 colleagues who came up with a curriculum and model for listening to the people.
To bring this in practice, listeners set up chairs and signboards which helps people to know about sidewalk talk. On their interest, they are asked to share their feelings and all the emotions are sincerely welcomed.
As it is practiced almost in 14 countries with 1700 volunteers in 40 cities, Nepal is also practicing this listening project in the field of psychology. The School Of Psychology (TSOP) and Psychdesk Foundation have initiated this project in Nepal. Under the supervision of Dr. Narendra Thagunna, Sidewalk Talk is practiced in Nepal.
The three events of Sidewalk talk has been successfully completed in Nepal and the responses are really beneficial. Usually, it is conducted in different locations where volunteers work in free of cost. It is mainly focused on nurturing human connections and to help them heal with encouraging them to express whatever they feel.
The matter disclosed is made confidential so that there can be trust in both volunteer and people who want to be heard. This approach can really be beneficial in creating a healthy atmosphere and bringing change in humans' lives.
