Whether we be introvert, extrovert or ambivert in nature, we unluckily meet with people who talk negatively with us. If we are a person with a kind heart, we often remain speechless or burst into tears. And if we are daring one, we often end with conflict. Negative nature of a person can really affect others but what can be done, when someone talks negatively with you or others. Before knowing what can be done to stop negative comments, it is equally important to know, what makes them act like that with you and others. The common reasons can be:

  • They might want to bring you down,
  • They might be jealous of you,
  • They might be unaware of their behavior,
  • They might feel teasing makes them cool,
  • They might want to control others.

Negative or violent people can be really harmful. They can be destructive also. So, many times an immediate action is very important to stop them from what they are doing. There are several tips to deal with negative people.

Simply Ignore Negative Comments
If s/he is talking negatively with you for the first time, simply ignore and after sometime meet the person to know exact issue. That person might be guided by other people so she might have some prejudice about you. Just talk openly and try to know real reasons behind it to solve a problem.

Stay Cool and Calm
When someone talks negatively to you, it is not essential to talk rudely. It might worsen the relationship. They might have a habit to satisfy themselves by hurting you or seeing you in tears. Just stay cool and show them their negative comments can't influence in their life.

Just leave a place for some time

When someone is throwing arrows of negative comment on you, just leave the place. It is natural to feel hurt but it will make them feel and realize their words can hurt others. They might realize and ask for forgiveness later.

Tell them how you feel
Due to lack of understanding, people keep on throwing negative comments on you for fun, and if you are not okay with it, just tell them how you feel, express everything and tell them not to repeat it, if they want your presence in their life. Sometimes, expressing feelings can bring balance in life.

Avoid negative people or circumstance
When there are one negative people, you might help yourself but if it is a crowd, it's better to leave the group. Just be happy on your own instead of being a victim of the negative world.

It is just as easy as writing tips to deal with negative people, converting them into action is really hard. But for good mental health, one has definitely come in action. If someone near is feeling the same issue, just help them what can do besides crying in sadness.

Behavioral approach in Clinical Psychology

APSARA KATUWAL  DANGOL Behavioral approach is based on the belief that behavior can be learned. It focuses on a scientific and objective method of investigation. It is also concerned with observable Stimulus-Response behaviors. This approach also focuses on learning's role in developing both normal and abnormal behavior. Early theorist Ivan Pavlov discovered classical conditioning (associative learning). He conducted a famous study using dogs. It focused on the effects of a learned response to a stimulus. For example, a dog started salivating when it heard the bell. Here, the sound of the bell would symbolize the message of getting food. Another behaviorist, Edwar L. Thorndike discovered Operant Conditioning and later B.F. Skinner analyzed operant conditioning. It is based on rewards and punishment to shape people's behavior. Edward L.
